A Family Day at Centro Sharjah

Centro Sharjah is a modern and stylish yet affordable business hotel in Sharjah. Located adjacent to Sharjah International Airport and just 15 minutes away from Sharjah business district, it is a great hotel choice for Sharjah bound business travelers and tourists. But Centro, despite being a business hotel is also a favorite among locals and residents who wants to have some well deserve R and R. Those who wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city without having to travel far can rest and relax at this hotel. Although close to the airport, you wouldn't feel it at all as it is secluded by tall trees and lush greenery, has a big pool, beautiful rooms and the all day dining restaurant serves good food. In short, it is a good place to relax for families or couples wanting to have quality time.

We stayed there for a night in August last year since the kids were on school holiday and hubby and I wanted to take them somewhere nice. We gave it a go using the complimentary night I received when I attended their pre-Ramadan event in June.

Getting there

We live in Sharjah and it was just a few minutes drive from our place. If you are coming from Dubai just follow the signboards to Sharjah International Airport and you will find it quickly. Coordinates here if using GPS Navigation System: Latitude: 25.319302971993046/Longitude: 55.51474213600159

Check In

Checking in was quick and easy. We were ask to chose between smoking and non-smoking room and we chose non-smoking of course. I have requested for a room upgrade but I was told that the hotel is full. I didn't insist but then I requested for a room with a good view and we were given a pool view which I was happy about.

Our Queen Classic Room

Small it maybe but the use of chic furniture and smart interiors with huge mirrors that bounces the light in the room made it look bigger. The flat screen TV with multi channels that hangs on the wall does not take any floor space nor space from the vanity/work table that stands across our bed.

The queen bed is already small for the four of us, I guess I underestimated it, that my daughter is almost a size of a grown up now, I wanted to request for an extra bed but there was no space anymore to put it. Good thing, we love to co-sleep and with the AC cranked up to cold, we never mind snuggling up to each other under the duvet for warmth. Nonetheless, we all had the good night sleep and ready for the next day

The bathroom is rather compact yet complete with towels and toiletries, shower and hair dryer although there were no bathrobes and slippers. We called the concierge to request it but we were politely reminded that since it was a budget hotel, those were not provided.

But there was the usual tea and coffee to save the day :)

Recreation

It was in the middle of summer with temperatures going up to plus 40 degrees with high humidity. Centro Sharjah boast a big swimming pool divided into kids and adults depths and a lifeguard was on duty the whole time.

This is where we stayed almost the whole time we were there. The kids they love to swim and this was our paradise day in and day out.

Other than the swimming pool, they have a jacuzzi under the shade of palm trees but we did not bother to use it.

instead we ask to use the table tennis. Hubby used to play this game back in the days so the kids were both interested to learn it.

I on the other hand admired some flora that surrounds the grounds of the hotel

before retiring in to this couch just to admire the greenery and watch them play and of course take lots of photos of them. Have you noticed me in any of the pictures at all? (hahaha)

Kids always find something to entertain themselves and the husband was happy to oblige.

Centro also features a well equipped gym, we didn't use it though because we were so engrossed in swimming and lounging at the pool.

Dining

c.taste is Centro's all day dining restaurant that serves a delicious array of international food for breakfast, lunch and dinner and it is where we had dinner and breakfast during our stay.

There is also c.deli for 24 hours take-away dining concept allowing guests to enjoy great food and drinks in addition to the purchase of any items they may need during their stay for their convenience.

Dinner service starts at 7 pm. We took a quick shower before going down to the restaurant. There was a good selection of salads and appetizers, main course, mix grills and desserts and all were delicious.

You can ask the chef for some fresh grilled meats or help yourself from the ones already in the spread.

Breakfast is always a fancy affair for us and we love hotel breakfast as there is always so much to chose from. Also, c. taste's dining area feels so alive as it was flooded with day light from the glass ceiling of the hotel. It was a busy morning with a lot of people are coming in and out to grab a quick breakfast before going about their day.

Us, on the other hand, were on a holiday mood so we took our time to do some people watching before helping ourselves to tea and coffee at the self serve station.

I have recently tasted foul madames and I regret having to skip this during our breakfast at Centro.

My choice of breakfast is rather consistent but I should probably try different ones next time.

After a hearty meal, we were back at the pool, we let the kids enjoy the water a bit more before we went back to our room to get ready to check out.

We enjoyed our stay at Centro and will sure to come back, we will definitely get a bigger room next time.
