Last Exit: Dubai's First Food Truck Park

A full blown food truck craze has hit Dubai. Now we have them all in one place!

Meraas call it (E11) the Last Exit.

Why?

Because the new food truck haven is located in Jebel Ali near the last exit on Sheikh Zayed Road towards Abu Dhabi going back to Dubai.

It's near Ghantoot, the border of Dubai and Abu Dhabi.

"Last Exit is a unique food truck park destination offering commuters and visitors alike a wide selection of fresh and tasty street food and many other convenient services in a fun atmosphere. Inspired by the American food truck stops, the Last Exit is the first of its kind in the region and serves breakfast, lunch, dinner or simply, a snack on the way – 24/7."-Meraas

For you to reach this place, you have to drive all the way to the last exit on E11 road, take the Ghantoot Interchange, take a u-turn towards Dubai, drive a few hundred meters and you will see it on the right side

You will be greeted by this pretty awesome pile of cars!

Then you feel like singing Route 66 as if you're in America! (Aminin kumanta ka! hahaha)

Then you realized you're still in Dubai because of the blazing summer sun. I'm guessing it was around 40 degrees with gusting winds which was a welcome relief from the heat.

Trying not to mind the heat, we searched for food and took lots of photos

We wanted to try the gourmet burger from Burger Pit but apparently, they have a "No car, No burger'' policy and that they serve only drive thru.

That we didn't know plus we already parked our car so we just have to move on.

I think due to their position and location, they are unable to sell over the counter the same way Starbucks does. Starbucks serves both drive-thru and the people queuing in the counter.

Last Exit is home to more than 11 Food & Beverage offerings such as Starbucks, Gourmet Burger, Brass, Operation Falafel, Baja Fresh, etc.

There were a lot of people queuing at The Hot Dog Stand and we all know what it means! Good food!

Giving up on Burger Pit, we decided to stand in the queue of The Hot Dog Stand and order 6 of these (3 chicken and 3 beef). I would say I like the beef more than the chicken dawg. It was juicy and packed full of flavor, thanks to the addition of tomatoes, pickles, green onions, potato sticks, beetroot, jalapeno, ketchup, mustard, and mayonnaise.

They have a big indoor dining area with air conditioning but there were too many people inside and no tables were available when we came in.

There are also lots of tables in the outdoor dining area but you just have to bear the heat. For sure it's going to be a different scenario when winter comes.

Finally, we found our spot right here

After food, we stayed for a while enjoying the scenery, people watching and eating Turkish ice cream!

The Last Exit also offers a number of convenience stores, entertainment and leisure facilities for kids and adults; kids play area, attended washrooms, prayer rooms, a dedicated parking area, charge boxes, a mini mart, ATM machines and 24 hours onsite security.

Have you been to the Last Exit? How was your experience?

This was just our first visit, we are sure to come back as soon as the weather is lovelier.
