American Friday Brunch at Original Wings & Rings Dubai

I have not been to Original Wings & Rings in a while but it seems nothing has changed since the last time I was here. It remains to be that relaxed sports bar with large TV screens and floor to ceiling glass windows I used to know.

We arrived around 1 pm last Friday with a group of young adults also heading for the restaurant. Naturally, they were asked at the reception to present their IDs and while they produce their IDs, the receptionist asks for my name to confirm my reservation and showed us to a table at the non-smoking side of the restaurant.

I used to be asked for my ID as well when I was younger and it feels strange but now that I am a grown up with my own kids, seeing these young adults head for a bar that serves alcohol, I cannot agree more with the establishment. I think it is a good standard practice.

When we were comfortably seated, another staff arrived and handed us the brunch menu.

Basically, they have several types of brunch packages and we go for the AED 149 with unlimited food and drinks.

What has change was the way they serve their brunch. From buffet, now you order your food to table. Served fresh from the kitchen. I think it is but practical because the type of food they serve has a lapse rate. Most of it has to be served hot except for the salads and desserts without that scoop of ice cream.

The brunch menu includes nachos, quesadillas, different salads and onion rings for appetizers. Then for the main course, there's beef burger slider, and wings with ten sauces to choose from. Desserts include brownies, classic cheesecake, and triple cheesecake.

The boneless wings with sweet bbq and sweet & sour sauces are perfect for kids. My kids both liked the sweet & sour more but the sweet bbq wasn't bad either. Ferald and I had bone-in wings with mild garlic parmesan and buffalo mild and extra hot sauces. All five sauces we've chosen were good but my favorite was the buffalo mild.

On top of the wings, we also had a plate of beef nachos served with plenty of sour cream, salsa, chopped olives, and jalapenos on top, like a Tex-Mex kind. It was a hit among the family members.

The onion rings were the highlight of this brunch for me, next to the wings. It has a light & crisp batter and a sweet & soft onion served with a ranch dip.

Personally, I find it hard to eat or dine without seeing any green things on the table even if it is just a plate of chopped cucumber. Thankfully, this brunch menu has plenty of salad options. We opted for a greek salad with caesar dressing. I know, it's kind of weird but weird is good as long as the family wouldn't skip their five a day.

My daughter, Lanna, asked for some quesadillas while Prince, my youngest wanted burgers.

Seeing so many interesting play tables around, I couldn't keep Prince to finish his burgers but came back for desserts.

Dessert was chocolate caramel brownie topped with pecan nuts drizzled with some chocolate sauce

and triple chocolate cheesecake. We were in chocolate heaven and it was a complete indulgence.

Entertainment
Apart from large TV screens and projectors that play MTVs and sports channels, Original Wings & Rings also has a billiards table (AED 30/hour), 2 foosball table (free), shooting games and air hockey table (AED 4/game).

Before we left, the kids asked that we all play foosball and we had four rounds. We all enjoyed this game, just looked at that smile on my son's face.

Service
As for the service, the staffs were friendly, relaxed, attentive, and informed.
