Tom Jones Tribute by Tony Gold at Gozo Garden Millennium Aiport Hotel

2 comments:
Thursdays will never been the same since I discovered The Terrace-Gozo Garden Millennium Airport Hotel great artist’s tributes done by world class performers. The Blues Brothers and Phil Collins are among the tributes I have seen and the latest was the tribute to the Welsh singer Tom Jones by Tony Gold. They said Tina Turner tribute was one of the best hence I will be thrilled to see her back on stage.

Tony Gold
I grew familiar with Tom Jones songs because my late dad used to sing them and my brother also sings them during our karaoke nights, they are both his fan. I know quite a handful of songs of his like It's Not Unusual, Green Green Grass of Home, Delilah, She's A Lady, I Who Have Nothing, Please Release Me, I'll Never Fall In Love Again, and Yesterday which are all beautiful classic songs. I get to enjoy listening to these songs again during the tribute last May 1 along with a very special person, mentor and a good ol' friend of mine who happened to be on a month holiday in Dubai, Ms Rebecca Tiongson. We used to call her Ma'am Becs, now a school principal in one of the schools in our city, she used to be our Guidance Counselor in high school and head of the Peer Facilitators Club where I belong. It really is a small world and at times you never know who you will bump with. Ma'am Becs, it was really really nice to see you again and thank you for accepting this dinner invitation. I hope that you had a good time.

On our table we have Ms. Cindy Botes - Millennium Airport Hotel's Banqueting Coordinator with her husband, Mr. Ben Hipolito - F&B Administrator and Ms. Shiela of shoutingwind.com with her husband.

Tribute nights are every first and last Thursday of each month, an upcoming tribute is for the famous American singer-songwriter Lionel Richie by Jason Leigh on the 29th of May 2014. Be sure to mark your calendars ayt?. Also every Thursday is Gozo Garden's BBQ Themed Nights where you can enjoy grilled specialties cooked right before your eyes along with other international cuisine on the spread. Priced at AED 250 during tribute nights and AED 195 on regular Thursday nights. See you around.

Shrimp Corn Chowder

No comments:

I wanted to eat prawns, I love prawns but I know very limited recipes of this crustacean. Yesterday as I check for recipes for dinner, I found this and it’s a jackpot. My family loves it, I love it. I was uncertain how it would taste as I have not cooked this before but it was like magic. The corn loves the butter they are a perfect combo, need not use corn starch coz the potatoes have the starch leaking from it once cooked and the prawns oh yum. I can guarantee you that this is a delectable comfort food. It is very easy to cook and does not require too many ingredients. You will love this, your family will love this.

You will need:

3-4 cloves of garlic minced

1 small onion minced

A knob of butter

3 ears of corn cut off from the cob

2 medium size potatoes diced

Half kilo of medium or large prawns, skinned and deveined

5 cups of fresh full cream milk

1 cup of water
In the cooking pot melt the butter, add garlic until fragrant, add onion until translucent. Add corn including the cob and the potatoes. Pour milk and water, cover and let simmer. Boil until potatoes are soft. Add prawns and cook for 3-4 minutes, make sure not to overcook the prawns. Add little water if it gets too thick. Serve hot.
