Choosing a Ball Gown for Desert Rose Parade

No comments:
Blue Satin Gown

Out of probably 20+ gowns we tried, she only liked one. A simple blue satin gown. I was hoping she would want something more lavish. Although we were thrifting since it is going to be a one-time use, there are many nice gowns to choose from at the thrift shop. Borrowing was another option but we found it difficult due to size constraints. The blue gown cost 65 dirhams only. Not bad for the price but design-wise, it was not good enough for me. I was actually hoping she would choose the green one as it has a nicer cut but nope, my persuasion was in vain.

Tape a'loeil Original Kids

No comments:

School holidays is in full swing and both my kids are at home with limited play resources. With play I mean the ones that will make them move and sweat and not the games on their tablets or smart phones. The problem is we can't take them out to the park nor the beach this time because it is summer in Dubai and it is very hot outside. I'm talking about 40-50 degrees here (no kidding). Options are mostly limited to just the mall or any indoor play area.

Ferald and I will have our local annual vacations very soon (yipeee!!!) which means more time with the kids. We normally take them out on weekends (after work during weekdays is difficult and not practical at all) and when we take the kids out, we wanted them to enjoy. We let them be kids, playful, silly and fun just like this very nice video of original kids I saw on YouTube. Reminds me of the days when I was growing up in the Philippines.

Kids are playful and imaginative more than us adults. They see things a lot differently.

The picture below was taken at Tape a'loeil's flagship store at Mall of the Emirates launched recently.

Tape a'loeil is a French fashion brand for new born children to age 14, exclusively distributed in the region by Jawad Business Group.

I found their clothing line edgy and fashionable at great prices. Not only suits my kids personality but also my pocket.

They have a wide variety of colors in clothes and accessories for your young ones from rompers to dresses, pants, jeans, T-shirts, shorts. jackets and accessories

That's my son Prince, running around the store with other kids shopping with their moms and dads.

Since it's summer, shorts and light color clothing are what we wanted Prince to wear. He can move freely with it and his body can breath. Apart from that, we wanted him to look cute and fashionable.

On the other hand, my daughter Mica wanted a faded jean shorts and a cute top with some artsy design in front. Not my choice anymore, gone are the days when mommy chooses her clothes but I do love what she chose.

Tape a'loeil Ramadan special range are also in store if you are looking for your kids outfit this Eid.

Tape a'loeil flagship store is located at the first floor of Mall of the Emirates. Other stores are located at Al Wahda Mall, Marina Mall, Mushrif Mall and Dalma Mall in Abu Dhabi, Bawadi Mall in Al Ain, Dubai Mall, Mirdif City Center and Arabian Center in Dubai and Mega Mall in Sharjah.

*The clothes used in this post are provided by the brand however all pictures and opinions are those of the author except otherwise stated.

ESPRIT Spring Summer '15 Collection

No comments:
Esprit launched its new spring summer 2015 collection at a fashion show held at XL Beach Club, Al Habtoor Grand Beach Resort, Dubai.

Like Guess, Esprit is one of the clothing brands I grew up with. It is just so nice to see the new collection first hand before it hits the stores.

This year's Esprit Spring Summer collection is inspired by the laid back California style which is all about sharing, enjoying, and embracing community, family and friends.

The Esprit Women Collection is big on black and white, working contemporary graphics together with stripes, color blocks, lace details, contrast piping and some reworked masculine shapes. You will also find feminine corps of military inspired garments like the romper above, mixing very functional styles and details with more romantic silhouettes in lively shades of green plus white and beige.

Esprit also got accessories to compliment your look. They have roomy bucket bags, large cross-body bags, backpacks and shopper. This season will also see bags come alive in stripes, hand painted flowers, paisleys and modern ethno patterns, often accented with embellishments including gem stones, fringes, tassels, printed faux leather and handcrafted details.

On the other hand, the Esprit Men Casual collection is inspired by real vintage clothing, easygoing clothes with a soft and informal attitude that nonetheless standout from the look-alike crowd.

Esprit have 12 stores in GCC with 3 stores in UAE at Deira City Center, Al Ghurair Center Dubai and Marina Mall Abu Dhabi.

Guess caught me off guard when their invitation for the SS15 Exclusive Fashion Show and Party to be held at the picturesque Bab Al Shams Desert Resort arrived on my inbox. I palpitated for a minute before coming back to my senses.

I didn't know what to wear!!! I don't have anything to wear!!! I am officially panicking.

Then I remember that I have this new maxi dress I've been saving for some event that I don't even know what is.

Yes I am very excited, it's GUESS and I don't know anyone who doesn't love Guess!!!

Although I have received a few invites for spring and summer fashion shows, this is the first fashion event I am attending this year. Thankfully, Krissy of K Vanity Project accepted to join me.

Floral Sheath Dress for Spring

No comments:
We dine at Shayan Persian Restaurant to celebrate Nowruz Festival or the first day of spring earlier this month.

I wore this red floral sheath dress I got from R&B Apparel. It is very comfortable and I love how it accentuates my voluptuous figure.

I paired it with my red wedged espadrille (not in the photo). For extra coverage since the dress is sleeveless, I wore a black top on top of it because the weather in Dubai is very unpredictable these days. I am always cold so I always need an extra layering piece.

Also wore it at work with a black cardigan with a flat sandals.

For a more dressy look to wear on night outs this spring, I was looking for a perfect pair of black strappy sandals to go with it. It can also be white or red and maybe a pretty jacket will be perfect as a layering piece. I went online and saw that Zalora has a broad range of stylish footwear for women. Click here to view the selection.

I have another dress for spring that is waiting for this particular shoes I was looking for. I don't know but my feet has changed and it suddenly became very sensitive. I favour comfort over looks so I take my time choosing my footwear these days. I have quite a few shoes I don't wear any more because it hurts to wear them. I'm really hoping to find that perfect pair real soon.

You know I seldom do an outfit post, I dress according to what's comfortable for me but I'd like to learn how to dress up for my body shape so I will try to do more fashion post, my daughter will also be having her own outfit post from time to time so watch this page for updates.

Do you have any suggestion on how I can style this floral dress? Let me know in the comments.

Why Are All The Boys In My Yard?

No comments:
We were into a lot of quotable quotes lately and I've been giving mom the low-down of what I am learning at school. I guess it got into her, she bought me this pretty grey top from Max Fashion with "why are all the boys in my yard?" question. I find it too cute with that ice cream with a cherry on top. I wore it when we went to the mall.

I am also wearing my uber comfy blue stretchable jeans from H&M, shoes from converse and bag from H&M.

A White Number

No comments:
So we came down to see the International Street Theatre and Comedy Fair at Al Ghurair Center, better known as DubFest 2015.

My daughter Micaela told me she wants to be a blogger like me, a fashion blogger to be exact. I have no objections, she is free whatever she wants to do as long as she is safe and keep school as her priority.

I asked her if she wants to co-author My Yellow Bells and she was ecstatic. I know it will not be easy but we can start with small steps until she is ready. She already shared too many ideas with me but for now she will be my model for each fashion post.

Dress: Forever21
Shoes: Max Fashion
Bag: H&M
