5 Ways to Make the Most Out of Your Motiongate Dubai Experience

Motiongate Dubai was the first park we ever visited out of the four theme parks inside Dubai Parks and Resorts.

And it has blown us away. We had so much fun and the adrenaline rush we had was unimaginable.

All four of us are movie lovers so imagine our excitement. When you have children, most likely you know all the characters in many if not all children's movies. Most likely you also know the names of the characters, even the dialogue. Yeah, do I see Moms nodding?

If you're like us, I am sure, you and your kids will enjoy Motiongate. The park is geared to entertain all ages so there is always something for everyone.

If you've been, what was your favorite part of it? Please share your experience.

Mine was Lionsgate The World of The Hunger Games.

We were invited to its grand opening and that was our second time at Motiongate Dubai.

Lionsgate The World of The Hunger Games was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!! Motiongate Dubai was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!

That's exactly what Dubai Parks and Resorts wants every visitor to experience and it did not disappoint. It even exceeded our expectations. We simply love every inch of the place.

I made a short video of Lionsgate's The World of The Hunger Games launch. You can watch it below or you can check it out here

Your Motiongate Dubai experience starts at the entrance. It is iconic. Take a souvenir shot. Speakers playing songs outside the gate too. Dance to the tune as you walk towards the entrance. Try it, it will make you feel good, I promise.

The park is the biggest among the theme parks and there are plenty of things to keep you occupied for hours.

To make the most out of your Motiongate Dubai experience, here are five insider tips from us.

Tip Number 1

Buy tickets online to avail discounted rates. There is a 10% discount right now if you book three days in advance. There's also a discount for GCC residents. Not only do you save some money, but you also save time and effort from queuing. If you have extra bucks to spare, go for a ticket with Qfast.

Tip Number 2

Arrive early to maximize your time in the park and be able to try all the rides and attractions inside. You don't want to miss any of the rides, do you? You also might be the first in the queue for each ride if you come early. Below are the current park timings for reference.

Winter Timings
(17 Sep 2017 - 30 Apr 2018)
Saturday - Wednesday: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM
Thursday - Friday: 11:00 AM - 10:00 PM

DreamWorks zone timings: 11:00 AM – 9:00 PM
Smurfs Village zone: Smurfberry Factory, Smurfs Studio Tour, and Woodland Play Park attractions open from 12 to 9 PM
Columbia Pictures zone: Hotel Transylvania, Ghost Busters, UnderWorld 4D, and Flint’s Imagination Lab attractions open from 12 to 9 PM

*Ghost Busters are out on a mission at the moment, the Show will not be shown in the coming days.

Tip Number 3

It is easier to Navigate by Zone. Enter one zone and enjoy all the attractions before moving to the next. There are five zones including Studio Central, Columbia Pictures, Smurfs Villages, Dreamworks, and Lionsgate. You might find some attractions closed for maintenance sometimes but they'll re-open as soon as the job's done. Just come back.

Here are the zones and some of our photos while we roam and ride.

Studio Central

It is right at the entrance so you're stepping into the Golden Age of Hollywood at the real-life movie sets of New York City. A fountain welcomes you. Most of the shops and restaurants are here.

Columbia Picture Rides

High-Speed A Chance of Meatballs River Expedition.

Get ready to get wet while on this awesome water ride with your family and friends. Meet and greet with Flint and Sam if you happen to see them in the park.

Green Hornet High-Speed Chase. Even the motion-averse can survive this, good for kids. My son was 7 years old here.

Hotel Transylvania Trackless Dark Ride. Meet the lovable Drac inside, and Mavis and Jonathan. Don't worry they don't bite.

Ghostbusters Battle for New York. This was totally relatable. Ferald and I grew up watching this cartoon.

We ain't afraid of no ghosts!!!

Zombieland Blast Off - It creeps me out to enter this place but still, Lanna and I rode it. It's a 58-meter drop free-fall experience. I always love this ride.

Smurfs Villages
Smurfberry Factory, Smurfs Studios Tour, Smurfs Village Playhouse, Woodland Play Park, Smurf Village Express

How can you not love them? There's just cuteness overload in this zone.

Dreamworks Rides

Kung Fu Panda's Unstoppable Awesomeness

Be amazed by the fountain of dreams inside Dreamworks

How To Train Your Dragon Dragon Gliders. We were late to reach Dragon Gliders but my friends love them, and even put it in his top 2 best rides.

Madagascar Mad Pursuit. You can't keep a straight face riding this rollercoaster running at 150kph. It was incredible, especially the tunnel.

Lionsgate

As I've said this was my favorite. Nerve-wracking good.

The World of the Hunger Games-Capitol Bullet Train. The best part was when we were left suspended for a few seconds in mid-air.

The World of the Hunger Games-Panem Aerial Tour. Don't underestimate this one. You're sure to get an adrenaline rush here as much as the one you got from the Capitol Bullet Train.

Now that you know the zones, let's move on to

Tip Number 4

If you are coming with small children, make sure to plan your visit and acquaint yourself with the rides where they are allowed. The website mentions height requirements so make sure to note those rides to avoid disappointing the little ones. If you have bigger kids, just go and enjoy everything. Prince and Ferald are not keen on high-adrenaline rides like me and Mica. Sometimes we go separate ways to re-ride what we like.

Tip Number 5

If your schedule allows, visit Motiongate Dubai on weekdays because it gets busy on weekends. If you don't mind the heat, summer is your best friend when the queue is almost non-existent. Dreamworks is entirely indoor so that's your best pal when the sun is still up then you can enjoy the rest of the outdoor entertainment when night falls. The opening times are being adjusted in the summertime so make sure to check on their website. If not mistaken, it opens from 4 pm to 12 midnight.

Hungry in between? That's also covered. Look for the ice cream tower with a cherry on top.

We went in

and ordered up a storm which came in with a whirl of spaghetti and meatballs

burger and pizza

and a big scoop of ice cream for dessert later on

Check the time because they light up the sky at 9 pm daily. Enjoy the show.

The best thing I heard at the end of the day was "This is the best day ever"- Prince. Can't beat that.
